Kamenjak and the Medulin archipelago are located on the far south of the Istrian peninsula, only ten kilometers from the city of Pula. It is a significant part of Istria that, with its natural resources, attracts visitors from all over the world all year round. The care of Kamenjak is run by the Public Institution for the Protection of Natural Values in the Medulin “Kamenjak” (JU Kamenjak) municipality. Lower Kamenjak (Lower Kamenjak and Medulin archipelago – full name) has been protected since 1996, in the category of significant landscape (IUCN Category: V). Lower Kamenjak is 3400 meters long and 500 to 1600 meters wide. There are numerous plant and animal species on the surface of a little less than 400 hectares, and the coastline makes up more than 30 picturesque bays that melt the crystal clear and clear Adriatic Sea.
